It’s a traditional house built a the top of a small hill. Between 2004 and 2007, it was restored under the direction of Christophe Charlery, a heritage architect with the aim of transforming it into a comfortable residence adapted to the modern way of life still keeping it patrimonial characteristics.

The Habitation Clément is characterized by the continuation of the industrial activity, in the heart of the cultural and patrimonial site. This dual activity, industrial and cultural makes it a little more than a business or a museum. Since 2016, it hosts the new modern art space and the library of the Fondation Clément.

Exhibition of old books
The Fondation Clément has patiently collected a set of documents telling the social and economic history of Martinique.
It then built up and released an important documentary collection gathering privately-owned archives, iconographic funds and a library dedicated to the history of the Caribbean, with remarkable books, some of them dating back from the 17th and 18th centuries. These collections are kept in the new library of the Fondation Clément and the public have access to them upon appointment and via an online documentary portal.
Initiation to and exhibition of Ikebana from 9.00 am to 5.30 pm
The Ikebana workshop « La Voie des Fleurs » will run two days of demo, creation and exhibition of bunches under the direction of Simone Guérédrat, Master II of the School Ohara.
